The NH Research NHR 9430-24 is a regenerative, 4-quadrant AC load designed for advanced AC and DC load testing applications. It supports input voltages from 10 to 400V DC or 10 to 350V RMS (AC), and it offers programmable loading across single, split, or three-phase configurations. For testing equipment such as uninterruptible power supply (UPS), AC sources, inverters, rectifiers, and circuit protection devices, the load is perfect since it can simulate a broad range of linear and non-linear loads.
The NHR 9430-24's capacity to function in all four quadrants, which enables it to faithfully simulate reactive power flows in real life, including inductive and capacitive loads, is one of its important qualities. The ability of the load to return power to the source due to this bi-directional operation lowers heat dissipation and increases energy efficiency. Because of its HiVAR® design, the NHR 9430-24 can support reactive loads up to 2.6 times the real power (Watts) and withstand large reactive power without derating true power.
For testing in a range of load scenarios, the device provides numerous emulation modes. The Constant Resistance (CR) mode simulates a power resistor with unity power factor, whereas the Constant Current (CC) mode guarantees constant current draw. With Constant Apparent Power (CS) mode, real and reactive power are balanced, while Constant Power (CP) mode mimics devices similar to switching power supply. To simulate motor-like resistive and inductive loads, one can utilize the Constant RL (CRL) mode.
You may create complicated waveforms and transient events like spikes or dropouts using an integrated graphical editor that supports user-defined waveforms. In order to provide exact phase control, the NHR 9430-24 also provides a macro capability for pre-programmed programs.The regenerative mechanism of the load returns more than 90% of the energy it uses to the facility, so saving a substantial amount of operating expenses. With the use of high-resolution waveform digitizing, its integrated digital measurement system records voltage, current, power, and timing data without the need for further testing apparatus.
